A young woman who returned from a trip to Malaysia has tested positive for a coronavirus infection, the first such case in Jharkhand, a senior official said. “There is a confirmed case of coronavirus in the state,” Jharkhand Health Secretary Nitin Kulkarni told IANS. According to Health Department sources, the patient has been admitted to Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS), Ranchi.
So far, 274 samples of suspected coronavirus cases have been taken in Jharkhand, of which 266 are negative positive. The report of the remaining seven is awaited. The department has set up an isolation ward of 557 beds for corona virus patients, with 96 in the Medical College, 200 in the Sadar Hospital and 261 beds in private hospitals. The state has also built 1,469-bed quarantine centers.
