New Zealand Health Minister David Clarke and a star rugby player have attempted to break nationwide lockdown rules aimed at eradicating coronavirus.
Just a few days after he was criticized for going mountain biking during a period of isolation, Health Minister David Clarke admitted that he had taken a 20-kilometer (12-mile) walk with his family to a beach.
Clarke, who called himself “stupid”, was removed from his post and also stripped of his role as associate finance minister.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said she sacked Clarke under normal circumstances, but she needed it during the fight against Covid-19. “I expect better, and so does New Zealand,” Ardern said angrily.
