Sealed the COVID-19 Hotspot in Dharavi area of Mumbai

The effect of coronavirus is most visible in the country’s Maharashtra, the authorities have today sealed the COVID-19 hotspot in Dharavi area of Mumbai. Five more people tested positive in Dharavi Slum on Wednesday, taking the total number of coronavirus patients in that area to 13 in a week. Two people have also died in Asia’s largest slum.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has banned all vegetable and fruit markets, hawkers and vendors in Dharavi in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, allowing only medical shops in the area to function.
The municipal corporation will soon start providing door-to-service for essential goods, with the first COVID-19 case on 1 April in Dharavi area of Mumbai. Dharavi is one of the largest slums in Asia, where about 1.5 million people live.
