Sealed the COVID-19 Hotspot in Dharavi area of Mumbai

The effect of coronavirus is most visible in the country’s Maharashtra, the authorities have today sealed the COVID-19 hotspot in Dharavi area of ​​Mumbai. Five more people tested positive in Dharavi Slum on Wednesday, taking the total number of coronavirus patients in that area to 13 in a week. Two people have also died in Asia’s largest slum.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has banned all vegetable and fruit markets, hawkers and vendors in Dharavi in ​​the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, allowing only medical shops in the area to function.

The municipal corporation will soon start providing door-to-service for essential goods, with the first COVID-19 case on 1 April in Dharavi area of ​​Mumbai. Dharavi is one of the largest slums in Asia, where about 1.5 million people live.
