The Meteorological Department said the monsoon will be normal this year. General Director of India Meteorological Department M Mohapatra told in an online briefing that the rainfall will be 100% on average this year. However, 96 to 100% rainfall is considered as normal monsoon. The monsoon will hit the coast of Kerala on June 1. In last year hit the Kerala coast on June 8. India receives rains from the southwest monsoon between June and September.
According to the Ministry of Science Secretary Madhavan Rajeevan, there is a possibility of 100% average. Anyhow there may be a 5% decrease or increase. A normal monsoon is beneficial for farming and economic growth.
