The coronavirus cases in India saws the biggest jump today. In a first, the states recorded 11,499 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. With this, India’s COVID-19 tally surged past the somber milestone of 3-lakh cases. Maharashtra added the highest number of new cases on Friday while Delhi recorded over 2,000 cases for the first time.
The first coronavirus case was detected in India on January 30. While, it took 109 days to reach the one-lakh mark on May 18, but the 2-lakh mark was breached only about a fortnight later on June 2.
Maharashtra became the first state in India to confirm over 1 lakh coronavirus cases. Mumbai, India’s financial hub alone registered 55,000 COVID-19 cases since the outbreak. Tamil Nadu was the second state to report over 40,000 coronavirus cases in India. With 36,824 cases, and Delhi had the third highest COVID-19 cases in India.
